When Harry and Megan chose Michelham Priory in Hailsham for their wedding day, they knew they were stepping into a venue filled with history, charm, and breathtaking backdrops. Getting Ready & First Impressions at Michelham Priory
Michelham Priory, with its medieval architecture and tranquil grounds, offers couples a unique blend of romance and character. From the moment I arrived, the venue set the tone with its historic stone walls, lush gardens, and timeless atmosphere.
A Romantic Barn Ceremony in East Sussex
The ceremony took place in the barn at Michelham Priory, a truly magical setting for exchanging vows. Fairy lights twinkled against the rustic wooden beams, and the space was beautifully decorated with white flowers and greenery. As Megan walked down the aisle in her elegant lace gown, the atmosphere was filled with emotion. Harry’s face lit up when he saw her, and their first kiss as husband and wife was framed perfectly by the warm, glowing backdrop.
Bridal Party Portraits in the Grounds of Michelham Priory
After the ceremony, we headed outside to make the most of the incredible grounds. The bridal party looked fantastic – the bridesmaids in rich rust-red dresses, and the groomsmen in classic black tuxedos. We captured both formal group shots and fun, candid moments, including a playful sequence with the bridal party walking past the couple while they shared a private moment.
Couple Portraits at Michelham Priory
Michelham Priory is a dream for wedding photography. From the ancient stone walls to the sweeping greenery, every corner offers something unique. Harry and Megan’s couple portraits were some of my favourites – from intimate shots under the willow trees to romantic moments in front of the grand medieval buildings. One of the most beautiful sequences was when they stood under Megan’s veil together, sharing a quiet, joyful moment.
Reception in the Barn – Cakes, Laughter & Celebration
The reception was filled with warmth, laughter, and heartfelt speeches. Guests enjoyed a delicious spread, with homemade cakes like lemon buttercream, sticky toffee, and cinnamon buttercream that added a personal and relaxed touch thanks to Harrys talented mum . As the evening went on, the barn glowed with fairy lights, creating the perfect atmosphere for celebrating late into the night with a band that had the party going all night long.
